This is not made of elephant ivory. The 2cm x 2cm tile is similar to Chinese mahjong tiles, and possibly made of plastic composites, faux ivory, celluloids, or fish bone. There are no cross-sections on the tile's edges. Email me if you have any questions. Thank you!
Incredible work by the late Jiang Guandong [θ£ε ζ±, θε δΈ] (1944-2011). Original work. Micro characters and images were carved (or needle burned?) onto the 2cm x 2cm tile. Not transfer print. You can see the carving marks under strong magnifying glass. Tile is mostly cream/white, but has a yellow discolorations or hue. The tile is glued on a grey slip, so the underside was not examined. Small dents or cutting marks at the edges of tile. Signed and dated 1993 by artist. Circa: 1993, China.
